Botox for Migraines

Our physicians have received training in performing botulinum toxin injections for the treatment of spasticity, intractable muscle spasm, painful conditions and migraines. Botox is an injectable form of botulinum toxin called Onabotulinumtoxin-A and blocks the ability of a muscle to contract.

Botox for Migraine Headaches:

Botox is also approved for use in the prevention of chronic migraines in patients who have failed to respond to conservative treatment. This treatment option is indicated in patients who failed multiple oral medications or continue to have 15 or more headaches per month. Please ask our doctors if you are a candidate for this treatment.  Studies have shown that in patients with persistent migraines, Botox injections can cut down the total number of days per month that they experience symptoms.

Botox for Spasticity

Botox therapy is desirable for conditions such as torticollis, stroke, and multiple sclerosis, where there is an abnormal amount of muscle spasm. Botox works by blocking the chemical signal between nerves and muscles that make the muscle contract or tighten, thus providing relief of muscle stiffness and pain due to spasticity.  Botox can be effective in treating chronic low back and neck pain that is due to muscular overactivity.
