Ankle Pain

Ankle pain refers to any kind of pain or discomfort affecting any part of the joint.   Your ankle joint consists of bones, muscles, cartilage, and tissues called ligaments and tendons. Injury or disease that affects any of these ankle structures may cause acute or chronic pain. Ankle pain can commonly occur after a fall or twisting of the joint. The most common causes of ankle pain are due to ligamentous sprain. A sprain refers to injury of the ligaments which connect the ankle bones. This usually occurs on the outer aspect of the ankle and can be associated with immediate or delayed swelling .
